Men's Golf Finishes in Third Place at Fossum Invitational

Freshman Bronson LaCassie (Camira, Queensland/Kelvin Grove) led the way for the Gophers with a career high second place finish. He recorded his third straight top-10 finish of the spring at 2-under 214 after a 69 on Sunday. Junior Ben Greve (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) finished tied for ninth at 5-over 221. Senior David Morgan (Rochester, Minn./Robert L. Stevenson) carded a 76 in round three and tied for 15th. Freshman Clayton Rask (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) tied for 41st at 230 and sophomore Ryan Paulson (Minneapolis, Minn./Holy Angels), playing in his first tournament since February due to an injured shoulder, placed 64th at 237.
Head coach Brad James played senior All-American Justin Smith (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) as an individual for the Fossum and his scores did not count toward the total team score. Smith tied for 20th at 9-over 225 after firing a 71 on Sunday. The two-time defending Big Ten champion Golden Gophers will defend their title next weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich.
