Wu Sits Atop Leaderboard Through Day One at The Johnnie-O

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu's fantastic performance in The Johnnie-O helped move Minnesota into a tie for fourth place after the first two rounds Monday.
The Golden Gophers finished with a team score of 26-under-par, including a second-round score of 14-under-par (274). This marks the second-lowest score of the season, as all five players finished under par on the day. The team trails Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, and Kansas on the leaderboard.
Notable Performances:
Wu led the team and field with a score of 13-under-par, tallying 17 birdies through the first 36 holes. His eagle on the 14th hole during the first round was his fourth of the season, helping him tie his career-best, round score of 8-under-par (64). He has finished under par in six of his last 11 rounds, going back to the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 19-20, 2025).
Senior Cormac Sharpe matched his season-low, round score of 3-under-par (69) during the first round, finishing the day with a total score of 5-under-par. He tied for 24th place, picking up nine birdies on the day.
Freshman Torger Ohe tied Sharpe for 24th by recording a score of 5-under-par, registering nine birdies. He penciled a second-round score of 5-under-par (67), picking up his first collegiate eagle on the fourth hole.
Freshman Joe Honsa carded a score of 2-under-par, placing in a tie for 39th overall. He gathered a score of 1-under-par (71) in the first and second rounds, collecting seven birdies along the way.
Senior Jack Wetzel's bogey-free second-round score of 2-under-par (70) helped him finish 1-under-par on the day, tying for 45th among all golfers. He recorded six of his eight birdies during the first round.
