Softball Signs a Pair to National Letters of Intent

Wrapping up her senior season at Roseville Area High School, Dalen is a six-year letterwinner for the Raiders. An all-state pitcher, she is a three-time all-region and all-conference selection and has been named team MVP three times. This season, Dalen has a 0.30 earned-run-average with 166 strikeouts and also boasts a .321 batting average. A standout volleyball player as well, she was a three-year letterwinner and earned all-conference honors. Dalen is a member of the "A" honor roll and the National Honor Society.
The younger sister of Golden Gopher junior outfielder Stephanie, Sward is a three-year letterwinner at North St. Paul High School. A centerfielder for the Polars, she has a .446 career batting average, including 58 stolen bases. Sward has earned all-state and all-conference honors, along with team MVP accolades during her prep career. She also lettered three years on the North St. Paul girl's hockey team and helped lead the Polars to a pair of state tournament appearances. A member of the "B" honor roll, Sward played for the Minnesota Irish last summer as the team finished second at the 2003 ASA national tournament.
Dalen and Sward will join fall signees, Megan Arns, Lauren Pockl and Tawnie Safgren, to round out the 2004-05 recruiting class.
