Glen Perkins Named Co-Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

Perkins pitched his second career shutout on Apr. 30 in a 7-0 victory over Purdue, as he went nine innings, gave up four hits and struck out seven batters. He has now gone 13 straight innings without allowing a run, and has given up just one unearned run in his last 23 innings of work.
The victory also moved Perkins' career Big Ten record to 12-0. He is also 13-0 in his career against Big Ten teams. In 13 career Big Ten outings, Perkins has a 1.97 career ERA and 111 strikeouts in 105 innings pitched.
Heading into the week, Perkins, is third in the Big Ten in ERA (2.84), seventh in strikeouts (62), first in opponent batting average (.209) and tied for fourth in wins. He is 5-2 with a 2.84 ERA and 62 strikeouts overall, and 4-0 with a 1.47 ERA and 33 strikeouts in Big Ten play.
Minnesota will be back in action on Tuesday, May 4 at 4 p.m. against Hamline University. The Golden Gophers will then resume Big Ten action on Friday, May 6 against Iowa at 6:30 p.m. Minnesota will play a doubleheader against the Hawkeyes on Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m. and a single game on Sunday, May 8 at 1 p.m.
