Glen Perkins Named Third-Team ABCA All-American

Perkins was also named a Collegiate Baseball Second-Team All-American, Honorable Mention All-American by CollegeBaseballInsider.com and Third-Team Baseball America All-American.
He was the 2004 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year. Perkins was only the second Golden Gopher pitcher in school history to receive those honors joining C.J. Woodrow, who received the honors in 2002.
Perkins was also named the 2004 Big Ten Most Outstanding Player of the Big Ten Tournament. In that tournament, he gave up only one unearned run in nine and two thirds innings, three hits and struck out 16 batters. That included a complete-game two hitter where he tied a career-high with 15 strikeouts against Purdue on May 27. Perkins also recorded the final two outs of the tournament in a 7-3 win in the championship game against Ohio State.
This season Perkins was 9-2 with a 2.83 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 111.1 innings pitched. He was even better in Big Ten play going 7-0 with a 1.88 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 67 innings. Those numbers in Big Ten play were either tied or alone for first in the conference.
Over the past two seasons, Perkins was 15-0 with a 2.09 ERA and 139 strikeouts in 129 innings in Big Ten play. He was 17-0, including two Big Ten Tournament games, against Big Ten teams in his career. Perkins ended up first on the Minnesota career in list in Big Ten strikeouts (139), Big Ten winning percentage (1.000, 15-0), fourth in Big Ten ERA (2.09) and second in Big Ten wins (15). Overall, Perkins was fourth in career strikeouts with 230.
Perkins registered the two highest single-season strikeout totals in Minnesota history with 117 in 2003 and 113 in 2004. The past two seasons, Perkins also had the second (111.1 in 2004) and fifth-highest (105.1) innings pitched total for a single-season at Minnesota.
He finished his career 19-5 with a 2.87 ERA, 13 complete games, two shutouts and 230 strikeouts in 216.1 innings pitched.
