Mitch Potter Ranked Sixth in U.S. in 400 Meters

CedFormer Minnesota sprint star Mitch Potter clocked his fastest 400 meters time of 2004 last weekend competing in a meet in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Potter posted a time of 44.88 seconds, a time that ranks him sixth in the U.S. The top U.S. time is 44.50, set by Baylor sprinter Jeremy Wariner in winning the 400-meter dash national title at the recent NCAA Championships.

Another former Golden Gopher, Adam Steele, also competed in the race and ran his fastest time of the year as well, crossing the finish line in 45.87 seconds.

Both Potter and Steele will compete in the 400 meters at next month's U.S. Olympic Trials in Sacramento, Calif.
