Wilkinson, Streit to Compete at USATF Outdoor Championships

The two Americans are joined by multiple internationals competing this weekend around the world.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota track and field program will have representatives around the world competing to become champions of their nation. The first of the competitions starts on July 23, with the USATF Outdoor National Championships in Icahn Stadium in New York, N.Y.
THE CONTENDERS
Matt Wilkinson (2021-23) enters the 2026 USATF Outdoor Championships this weekend ranked No. 8 in the world and No. 1 in the U.S. in the 3000m steeplechase. The two-time Big Ten Champion holds a lifetime best of 8:09.56, a time he set in May of 2026 at the Diamond League event in Rabat, Morocco. Wilkinson's 8:09.56 is the ninth-fastest in the world this year and is the seventh-fastest time in United States steeplechase history.
Soon-to-be redshirt senior Hadley Streit enters the U.S. hammer throw competition with the ninth-best qualified throw of 71.98m (236-2). That lifetime best mark from the Tom Jones Memorial in April is the 22nd-best in United States history in the women's hammer throw.
In Greece Minnesota will see three representatives of the Maroon and Gold compete in the men's hammer throw. The 2026 NCAA Champion Angelos Mantzouranis will lead the Greek group that includes Pavlos Tzamtzis and Kostas Zaltos also on the entry list.
Other European entries at various national championships include Heta Tuuri (2015-18) in Finland and Maja Maunsbach (2022-24) in Sweden.
