Two Former Gophers Compete at Olympic Trials

The Golden Gopher men's track & field team has five athletes competing. Mitch Potter and Adam Steele will compete in the 400-meter dash. The duo recently completed their collegiate careers at Minnesota and look to return to the U.S. team after helping the U.S. 4x400-meter relay to a gold medal at last summer's World Championships.
Karl Erickson will compete in two events at the Trials, the shot put and the discus. Erickson earned All-America honors in both events at the NCAA Championships in June.
Also competing is middle-distance runner Trent Riter in the 800-meter dash and Travis Brandstatter in the decathlon.
Two former Golden Gophers women will compete in field events, Monica Stearns in the pole vault and Shani Marks in the triple jump.
