StaUniversity of Minnesota women's golfer Terra Petsinger lost in the first round of match play at the United States Women's Amateur in Erie, Pa., Wednesday. Petsinger, a three-time letterwinner at the U of M, was defeated by Jane Park of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., 3 and 2.

The match was All Square through five holes before Park moved 1-up after Petsinger bogeyed the par 4 sixth hole. Petsinger squared the match with a par on the ninth hole, but that would be as close as the Arvilla, N.D., native would get. Park won four of the next five holes as Petsinger double bogeyed the 10th and carded bogeys on 12, 13 and 14. Petsinger staved off elimination by winning the 15th hole with a par, but the two players halved the 16th hole and Park was victorious 3 and 2.

Petsinger, a senior, will lead the women's golf team into the season starting on Sept. 11-12, in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the Lady Northern Invitational.
