Women's Golf Holds Top Two Places at Minnesota Invite

The University of Minnesota women's golf team holds the top two spots after two rounds of the Minnesota Invitational at the Les Bolstad U of M Golf Course. In fact, the Minnesota 'B' team holds a one-shot advantage over the 'A' squad going into tomorrow's final round. The Gopher 'B' team fired rounds of 308-306=614 compared to the 'A' team's 309-306=615 finish. North Dakota is in third place 39 shots behind the tournament leader.
Individually, defending champion senior Ter ra Petsinger leads 'A' squad teammate Sar ah Butler by two strokes. Petsinger fired rounds of 73-76=149 (+ 5). Butler carded rounds of 76-75=151 (+7). The Minnesota 'B' squad hold down the third through fifth positions behind the play of sophomores Sop hie Stubbs and Lou ise Fleming and freshman Emily Brand. Stubbs is one shot back of Butler at 152 (74-78), after a career-best 74 in round one. Fleming and Brand are tied for fourth at 153. Brand fired rounds of 77 and 76 while Fleming carded a career best and Minnesota's best round of the day, an even-par 72 in the second round. Sophomore Samantha Braschler is in sixth at 154 (78-76) playing for the 'A' squad and junior Jes sica Thomas is eighth at 157 (80-78).
Sophomore Bri ttany Willborg is tied for 12th with a 161 (82-79) and freshman Kelli Berns is tied for 16th at 165 (84-81) for the 'A' squad. For the 'B' team sophomore Lindsay Somrock is tied for 16th at 165 (80-85).
Playing individually, sophomore Ash ley Bruun is tied for 23rd after a 166 and sophomore Katie Boushard is 57th at 183.
The final round is tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at the par 72, 6,108-yard U of M G
