estaThe University of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics Department announced today that the men's and women's golf programs received a $300,000 gift from the estate of Edgar Bolstad, a retired real estate developer and avid golfer.
Edgar Bolstad, the younger brother of Les Bolstad, was a three-year letterwinner for the Gopher men's golf team from 1931-33. Edgar helped the Gophers to a third-place finish at the Big Ten Championships in 1931 and second-place finishes in 1932 and 1933. Edger earned a law degree from the University of Minnesota.
"Edgar was a generous and wonderful man and his support of our men's and women's golf programs means so much," Mike Halloran, Associate Athletics Director for Development said. "The Bolstad family is legendary and a major part of the history of Golden Gopher athletics and we are thankful for the opportunities Edgar's gift has given to our student- athletes."
