University of Minnesota sophomore forward Danny Irmen (Fargo, N.D.) has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week, following his outstanding performance last weekend in Minnesota's sweep over intrastate rival Minnesota State.

In last Friday's 9-6 win at the Xcel Energy Center, Irmen led all scorers by a wide margin with three goals - including a shorthanded marker - and one assist. It marked his first career hat trick and four-point game. For the weekend, Irmen had five shots and was a team-best +4. He is now second on the team in scoring this season with 17-13--30. Irmen is first on the team this season with a plus-minus rating of +16. He is second on the team with eight multi-point games. Irmen has an assist in 11 of 24 games this season and a goal in 13 of the last 20 contests.

The award is the second WCHA Player of the Week honor for Irmen this season.

Fourth-ranked Minnesota begins a four-game homestand this weekend with a series against Michigan Tech on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 21-22, at Mariucci Arena. Both games will face off at 7:07 p.m., and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net North and WCCO 830 AM.
