WR: Golden Gophers Draw Central Michigan at the National Duals

The University of Minnesota wrestling team (2-3) will face Central Michigan (5-1) in the first round of the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals this weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. The match will be held at the CSU Convocation Center at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Minnesota drew the sixth seed in the 16-team tournament. Oklahoma State, winner of the past two National Duals, is the top-seed and will face The Citadel. Other seeded teams included No. 2 Illinois, No. 3 Michigan, No. 4 Lehigh, No. 5 Hofstra, No. 7 Oklahoma and No. 8 Cornell. The championship match will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m.
This will be just the third meeting between Minnesota and Central Michigan. The two teams last met at the 1999 National Duals with the Golden Gophers claiming a 25-9 win. Minnesota won the teams' only other meeting by a 41-9 score in 1993.
This is the ninth straight year that the Golden Gophers have participated in the National Duals. Minnesota has won a total of three titles with the last coming in 2002. The Golden Gophers also have a pair of runner-up finishes.
For the second straight year, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Cleveland State University will host the event. Individual tickets are still available and can be purchased at ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 216-241-5555.
