VB: Minnesota Heads to Purdue and Illinois

The Minnesota volleyball team will head to Purdue on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. Minnesota will then head to Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. That match will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on ESPN 2 on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1:30 p.m. The Golden Gophers enter the week with a 15-2 overall record and are tied for second place in Big Ten play with Wisconsin at 5-1. Minnesota is also currently on a five-match Big Ten winning streak. Purdue enters the week ranked No. 21 in the nation and is 14-3 overall and tied for fourth in Big Ten play at 3-3. Illinois is 11-6 overall and is tied for seventh at 2-4 in conference play.
Minnesota enters this week with 25-8 Big Ten road record since 2002. The Golden Gophers were 9-1 on the road in conference play in 2002 on the way to their first Big Ten title. Minnesota went 6-4 in 2003 and was 8-2 in 2004. This year, the Golden Gophers are 2-1 after losing a five-game match at No. 10 Wisconsin and winning at Northwestern and Indiana. Minnesota is 54-12 in Big Ten play overall since 2002.
