WSD: Wind Named Co-Big Ten Swimmer of the Week

SThe Big Ten Conference office has announced that senior swimmer Katie Wind has received the Big Ten Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for her performance at Kansas last weekend. It is Wind's first swimmer of the week accolades in her Gopher career. She shares the honors with Wisconsin's Emily Carpenter.

Wind led the Golden Gophers in a dual win over Kansas, 168-132, last Saturday in Lawrence, Kan. The St. Paul, Minn., native won both the 100 and 200 yard backstrokes, posting times of 58.21 and 2:03:24, respectively. In all, Minnesota won 10 of 16 events in their first win of the season.

The women's swimming and diving team is idle this weekend, but returns to action next weekend to open the Big Ten season. Minnesota faces Iowa in a dual meet in Iowa City. The meet will start at 4 p.m.
