Last year university employees pledged $1.06 million to the Community Fund Drive, and organizers hope to increase that figure to $1.2 million this year. All donations collected during the football game will assist the University in reaching this goal and will be supporting a very worthy cause.
“We are certainly excited and honored to do our part for the University’s Community Fund Drive,” Director of Athletics Joel Maturi said. “The money raised through the Fund Drive is used to support several important charitable organizations right here in Minnesota. We certainly appreciate all those who are able to contribute.”
The Community Fund Drive is a month-long event that raises money for charities that provide critical community needs including social services, education, arts and health. Organizations supported by the Community Fund Drive include: Community Health Charities, Community Solutions Fund, the Greater Twin Cities United Way, the Minnesota Environmental Fund, Open Your Heart, United Arts and the United Negro College Fund.
Contributions to the Community Fund Drive can also be made by completing an online pledge form at www.umn.edu/cfd. Donors can choose to either make a one-time contribution or may have a small amount deducted out of their check each pay period. In addition, donors can choose which agency their money will support.
