VB: Minnesota Ranked No. 12 in CSTV/AVCA Poll

rankThe Minnesota volleyball team (16-3, 6-2) was ranked No. 12 in the CSTV/AVCA weekly poll, which was released on Monday, Oct. 17. Minnesota received 840 points in the poll.

Minnesota has been ranked in the top 25 for 32 straight weeks, which is the second- longest span in school history. The Golden Gophers longest span ranked in the top 25 came from Oct. 11, 1999 to Oct. 29, 2001.

There were five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25 this week. Penn State was the highest ranked team at No. 3, followed by No. 7 Wisconsin, Minnesota at No. 12, Purdue at No. 17 and Ohio State at No. 20. The Big Ten was second among conferences with five teams in the top 25.

Minnesota lost a four-game match at No. 21 Purdue this past week, and won a four-game match at Illinois. The Golden Gophers enter the week in third place in the Big Ten at 6-2.

This week, Minnesota faces Ohio State on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. and Penn State on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
