McKenzie and Chartier Earn WCHA Weekly Honors

McKenzie led the Gopher scoring drive, as she netted two goals and two assists to help the Gophers earn a two-game sweep over the Beavers. In her two games played, McKenzie scored a power-play goal, a short-handed goal and two game-winning goals. Her short- handed goal was the game-winner in Saturday’s 3-2 win. McKenzie leads the Gophers in scoring this season with six points.
Chartier earned back-to-back wins and helped the Gophers earn four points in the WCHA standings. She recorded her second shutout in three games played in Friday’s 2-0 victory over the Beavers. On the weekend, Chartier held a 1.00 goals against average and a .941 save percentage in 119:53 minutes played. On the season, Chartier holds a .939 save percentage and a 1.26 goals against average in four games played.
The Golden Gophers are on the road this weekend, facing eighth-ranked Mercyhurst, Oct. 21-22, in Erie, Pa. Friday’s game will begin at 7 p.m. (ET), while Saturday’s contest is slated for a 3 p.m. start. Both games will have live stats and Saturday’s game will be broadcasted on the U.S. College Hockey Online website at www.uscho.com.
