VB: Minnesota Heads to Iowa for Midweek Match

The Minnesota volleyball team will play a midweek match at Iowa on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. Minnesota will then host Indiana at Williams Arena on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. The Golden Gophers enter the week in fifth place in the Big Ten at 6-4. Minnesota is also 16-5 overall on the season. Iowa enters the week tied for tied for seventh in the Big Ten at 3-7, and is 13-10 overall. Indiana enters the week tied for 10th in the conference at 2-8 and is 9-13 overall. The Golden Gophers defeated Iowa in three games at the Sports Pavilion on Oct. 5, and won at Indiana in three games on Oct. 7.

For the second year in a row, Minnesota will host a match at Williams Arena. Last year, the Golden Gophers drew 10,927 fans in a four-game victory over Illinois at Williams Arena. That crowd was the largest to watch a collegiate women's volleyball match in 2004. It also was the eight-largest non-Midnight Madness crowd in NCAA history, as well as being school record crowd.
