In the first half, Minnesota failed to capitalize on three corner kicks in the first 15 minutes, but the Golden Gopher defense stepped up to hold the Nittany Lions off the scoreboard. Tiffany Weimer had a free kick at the top of the 18-yard box, but Golden Gopher goalkeeper Molly Schneider made the save with just over 11 minutes to play. Penn State held an 8-4 advantage in shot attempts, including a 3-2 edge in shots on goal.
