Gophers Fall to No. 2 Minnesota Duluth, 6-0

The Bulldogs did what Minnesota did the previous night: jump out to an early lead. The Bulldogs scored three goals in the first to take the lead. UMD scored early at 2:30 on a goal from Michaela Lanzl. The Bulldogs then added their second goal at 15:16 from Jessica Koizumi and again at 16:20 at from Allison Lehrke.
UMD tacked on the additional three goals in the second period to take the 6-0 lead. Gopher defensemen Dagney Willey was called for a five- minute major for hitting from behind and a 10-minute game misconduct at 9:42 of the second. UMD took advantage, scoring three power-play goals at 10:13, 12:40 and 13:59. Noemie Marin scored two of the three goals, while Lanzl scored her second goal of the game for the final tally.
It was the first time Minnesota was shut out on its home ice of Ridder Arena. The Gophers have not been shut out of a game since February of 2002 in Mariucci Arena.
Brittony Chartier was in goal for the Gophers, posting her second loss of the season. Chartier played the first and second period, stopping 14 saves. Freshman Kim Hanlon saw action tonight for the first time in the season, playing in the third period.
The Gophers host for the second straight weekend when Ohio State comes to town, Nov. 4-5. Both games are 7:07 p.m. at Ridder Arena.
