bWith a three-game Big Ten winning streak, the Golden Gopher soccer team is ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA/adidas Great Lakes Regional rankings. It's the first time since 2002 that Minnesota has been ranked in the top 10 in the region. The Golden Gophers are one of six Big Ten teams ranked in the top 10.

Minnesota is 6-4-2 on the season and 3-1-0 in the Big Ten, good for second place. The Golden Gophers have already surpassed their conference win total from a year ago and now sit in good position to reach their first Big Ten Tournament since 2000.

Marquette and Notre Dame are ranked first and second in the region, respectively. Purdue and Illinois are tied for third, followed by No. 5 Michigan, No. 6 Dayton and No. 7 Wisconsin. The Golden Gophers defeated the Badgers, 1-0, in double overtime last Friday. Minnesota faces Illinois on Sunday at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
