Grabeman, a native of Springboro, Ohio, was the Player of the Year in her conference in 2005 and qualified for the Ohio state tournament as a sophomore and a senior. She has three top-10 finishes at AJGA events and was third at the FCWT Doral Open. Grabeman has been her team’s MVP the past three seasons and set a new 18-hole school record with a 69 to qualify for the state tournament.
“Leslie has impressed us with her consistency and her ability to shoot low scores,” head coach Katie Hanneman said. “She impressed us this summer as she gained junior tournament experience and we expect her to respond well to the pressure of major college golf.”
Herzog, a native of Detroit Lakes, Minn., was the runner-up at the 2004 Minnesota State High School Tournament and has been named a 2A all-state honoree the previous two seasons. Herzog was her conference medalist in 2003 and 2004 and participated in the 2002 and 2005 Minnesota/Wisconsin Junior PGA Cup Matches. In addition, she qualified for the USGA Junior Girls Championship in Brooklawn, Conn., and the 2004 and 2005 Callaway Junior World Golf Championship at Torrey Pines in San Diego, Calif. She was the medalist at the 2004 PGA Junior Series at Tripoli Golf Club in Milwaukee, Wis.
“Christine is one of the best junior players in the state of Minnesota and she’s a player that will help us continue to grow our program,” Hanneman said. “We hope she starts a trend of the best in-state players staying home and coming to the U’.”
