SOC: Schneider and McCarthy Named Academic All-District

Molly Schneider and sophomore Hailey McCarthy have been named to the 2005 CoSIDA ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V Second-Team, which is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District V is made up of players from llinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario, and Manitoba.
A native of Rochester, Minn., Schneider earned first-team All-Big Ten honors this season as she led the Big Ten with a 0.65 goals-against-average in league games. Overall, she finished the regular season with a stellar 0.83 gaa. Schneider has started 37 straight games since transferring from Wisconsin-Milwaukee prior to the 2004 season. She is majoring in kinesiology.
Hailing from Oregon City, Ore., McCarthy has started 37 straight matches in her two seasons with the Golden Gophers. McCarthy was a key component of the Big Ten's best defense which allowed just seven goals in 10 conference games. She is majoring in international business and marketing.
