thThe Western Collegiate Hockey Association has announced that junior forward Krissy Wendell has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for her performance against North Dakota. It is the second honor this year for Wendell and the 10th WCHA weekly award for the Gophers this season.

Wendell, a Brooklyn Park, Minn., native, led the top-ranked Golden Gophers to a home series sweep over North Dakota, Saturday and Sunday. In Saturday's 7-0 win, Wendell scored her sixth hat trick of the season and added an assist. In Sunday's game, Wendell had three assists as the Gophers posted a 4-2 victory and the sweep. In her two games played, the Patty Kazmaier finalist capitalized three goals on 10 shots and she had a plus/ minus rating of +6.

Wendell and the Gophers host their final home series this weekend at 3:05 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Due to the girls' state high school hockey championship, the Gophers will play in Mariucci Arena on Saturday, but will be back in Ridder Arena for the final home game of the season. The Gophers could clinch the WCHA regular season championship as early as this weekend. The Gophers need four points in the next four games to clinch the title.
