MSD: Second Session Complete at Minnesota Challenge

The Gophers "A" 200 medley relay team took first in a time of 1:29.42. The team consisted of Adam Mitchell, Jason Timmer, Neil Osten and Mario Delac. Mitchell was back in the pool in the next event, where he won the 400 individual medley. His time of 3:56.69 beat teammate Russ Payne (3:59.28).
The 100 butterfly had one of the more exciting finishes of the meet with Lucas Petersen (49.24) edging his teammate, Osten (49.59). The Gophers had the next six finishers as well, led by Sean McCaffrey (50.43). Minnesota had a similar performance in the 200 freestyle, posting the top 12 finishers. Mortimer won his third event of the meet in a time of 1:38.83, followed by Terry Silkaitis (1:39.00) and Igor Cerensek (1:40.39).
In the 100 breaststroke, Jason Timmer picked up the win in a time of 56.65. Nathan Bernier was second (57.28) and Drew Knoechel was third (57.60). Minnesota had the six fastest times in the 100 backstroke, led by David Plummer (49.51), Mike Woodson (50.37) and Dan Berve (51.35).
Minnesota's "A" team finished second in the 800 free relay. The team consisted of Drew Knoechel, Dan Abrahamson, Kiel Ochalek and Pavel Zhuravlev.
The meet concludes this evening at 6 p.m.
