Second-ranked Cole Konrad gave Minnesota a 6-0 lead with a fall in 4:25 against Jake O'Brien at heavyweight. He extended his career-long win streak to 16 with his eighth pin of the year.
Purdue (7-10, 1-4) got back in the match with the upset of the night at 125 pounds. Brandon Tucker earned a late takedown to earn an 8-7 upset of fifth-ranked Bobbe Lowe. Lowe dropped to 27-4 on the season.
Reiter extended the Golden Gopher lead to 12-3 with a pin in just 1:53 against Sean Schmaltz. A redshirt freshman from Gilbertville, Iowa, Reiter won his 11th straight match and improved to 30-3 on the season.
The Golden Gophers went on to claim four of the next five matches, including junior Tommy Owen's pin in 2:45 against Ben Sprunger at 141 pounds. Battling sophomore Quincy Osborn for the starting nod at 141, Owen earned his second pin of the season.
After 10th-ranked Doug Withstandly cut the Golden Gopher lead to 18-6 with a 4-1 decision against Danny Williams at 149 pounds, redshirt freshman C.P. Schlatter earned a 12-4 major decision against Colton Salazar at 157 pounds. Wrestling at 149 pounds for most of the season, Schlatter earned his second straight win since moving up to 157 last week.
10th-ranked Matt Nagel made the lead 26-6 with his second major decision of the weekend with a 12-4 victory against John DeCeault at 165 pounds. It was only the third time in 14 matches Nagel wrestled an unranked opponent.
Redshirt freshman Gabriel Dretsch earned the final victory for the Golden Gophers with a 4-2 decision against Dan Bedoy at 174 pounds. Dretsch was wrestling just his second match since being injured in late December.
Purdue closed out the match with two victories at 184 and 197 pounds. 14th-ranked Ben Wissel took a 12-5 decision against redshirt freshman Jeremy Larson at 184. Larson was wrestling in place of sixth-ranked Roger Kish who missed his fourth straight match due to a skin infection. The Boilermakers' Nathan Moore earned a 6-3 decision against Matt Koz at 197 pounds.
Minnesota will return to the road on Friday, Feb. 11, with match against arch-rival Iowa. The Golden Gophers return home on Sunday, Feb. 13, with a dual against Ohio State.
