foUniversity of Minnesota Associate Athletics Director Mark Coyle has accepted a job within the athletic department at the University of Kentucky. Coyle will become the Associate Athletics Director for Development with the Wildcats and will be responsible for fund raising and sports administration.

"We are going to miss Mark, but at the same time we understand why he decided to make the move," Minnesota Director of Athletics Joel Maturi said. "Mark has been a major contributor to the Golden Gopher athletic department during a time of change and transition. He has brought stability to areas we needed it the most. We wish him, his wife Krystan and their two children the best of luck."

Coyle came to Minnesota in August of 2001 as the Director of Marketing and Sales. In February of 2003 he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Sales before being moved to the role of Associate Athletics Director for External Relations in June of 2004.

In Coyle's most recent role at Minnesota, he has been responsible for overseeing corporate sponsorships and suite sales of Gopher Sports Properties, marketing and promotions, athletic communications, video services, the Gopher ticket office, licensing and gophersports.com.

"I am going to miss everything about the University of Minnesota and the athletic department," Coyle said. "I look forward to my new challenges, but at the same time I will miss the great people I worked with at Minnesota."

A search for Coyle's replacement will begin immediately.
