Former Gopher forward and director of basketball operations, J.B. Bickerstaff, is currently an assistant coach for the Bobcats and facilitated the Gophers' use of the practice gym.
"It's nice to have friends in high places. We appreciate the Bobcats and coach Bickerstaff for allowing us to use their facility," head coach Dan Monson said. "It is a great facility. We can't wait to get started."
"We are really excited to get to Charlotte. It seems a little more real right now that we made the NCAA Tournament," senior captain Brent Lawson said. "It was a lot of fun to practice at the Bobcat facility tonight. I think the guys are excited for tomorrow and we will continue to prepare and work hard to get ready for Iowa State on Friday."
The Gophers travel party includes the band, cheerleaders and several support staff members in addition to the coaches' families.
The Gophers will head to Charlotte Coliseum for the first time tomorrow afternoon. They will have their media interview session at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time followed by a team practice from 2:30-3:00 p.m., that is open to the public and media. Minnesota will take the court against Iowa State on Friday at 11:30 a.m., Central Time. The game will be broadcast locally on WCCO Channel 4 and be seen by 49 percent of the country on CBS.
