MGYM: Alvarez Wins Vault Title At Big Ten Championships

tUniversity of Minnesota senior gymnast Guillermo Alvarez captured the vault title with a score of 9.512 in today's event finals of the 2005 Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich. Alvarez, who also competed in the pommel horse and floor exercise finals, was named first-team All-Big Ten at the conclusion of the Big Ten Championships.

Alvarez also placed third on the pommel horse with a score of 9.637 and took eighth in the floor exercise with a mark of 8.300 in the event finals.

Alvarez took third place in yesterday's all-around with a score of 55.475, which was his second-best all-around score of his career.
