WGM:Johnson Finishes 16th in All Around at NCAA Championship

AlaGolden Gopher junior Laura Johnson finished 16th in the all around at the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Ala. Johnson was the lone representative for the Minnesota program.

Johnson started the meet on the vault, where she scored a 9.775 to place in a tie for 22nd place. After the vault, Johnson had a bye rotation, then moved to the bars. She earned her highest score of the meet on the bars, a 9.800 to tie for 16th place. On the beam, Johnson earned a 9.775, which was good for a tie for 23rd place. After a second bye, she competed on floor, where she earned a 9.775 too tie for 33rd place. Johnson’s all around score was 39.125.

Johnson was the first Minnesota gymnast to qualify for the NCAA Championships as an individual since 2001, when MaryAnne Kelley advanced to the national meet. The Gophers qualified for the NCAA meet as a team in 2002.
