Heading into the this baseball season, Carr has also been nominated for the state’s Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year honors.
Carr will be the first Gopher baseball player from North Dakota since Keith Walters, who played one season for Minnesota in 2000. Former Golden Gopher Aron Amundson, who was named First-Team All-Big Ten in 1999, also came to Minnesota from North Dakota.
“In every recruiting class we are looking to add quality pitching,” said Anderson. “This signing added to our early signees gives us an outstanding class of incoming freshman to add to the program. Kyle is a quality pitcher who has big upside. He will continue to get better and better as he moves up in level on competition. Kyle is a very good athlete who has a good chance to come in and make an impact for our program early in his career.”

Kyle Carr (on Coming to Minnesota) – “I am really excited about coming to the University of Minnesota and being able to work with the great coaching staff. I think the program and university are a perfect fit for what I am looking for in a university and a baseball program.
Todd Oakes – Minnesota Pitching Coach on Kyle Carr – “Kyle is an extremely gifted three-sport athlete. He has a good presence on the mound and a good fastball. Kyle has mostly relied on his fastball, but he has a great foundation to become an excellent three- pitch pitcher. He possesses a great deal of talent, and is capable of stepping in and contributing right away as a true freshman.”
