SOC: Soccer Recruit Marti Klinsing Receives Athena Award

Incoming soccer recruit Marti Klinsing has been awarded the Athena Award for her outstanding athletic career at Wayzata High School. The awards are given annually to high school seniors who have been chosen as their school's top female athlete.

Klinsing was a four-year letterwinner for the Trojan soccer team, earning all-state, all- conference and all-metro honors. One of the top goal scorers in the state, she was a member of the 2004 Minnesota ODP Team. Klinsing was also a two-time all-conference selection and three-year letterwinner on the basketball team

Klinsing, along with 11 other Golden Gopher freshmen, will make their debuts with the Golden Gophers when Minnesota opens its 2005 season at Nebraska on Aug. 26.
