WGF: Incoming Freshman Sydney Liles Wins Arizona Junior Championship

wUniversity of Minnesota incoming freshman Sydney Liles captured the 2005 Arizona Junior Girls State Championship with a two-round total of 151. Liles, from Phoenix, Ariz., fired rounds of 77-74 to win the title by one shot over Ashley McKenney and Bethany Leclair at the Grayhawk Golf Club.
Liles is the ranked No. 3 in the Arizona class of 2005 by Junior Golf Scoreboard. She was named to the Arizona Republic All-State Team in 2003 and 2004 and was a Junior Tour All-American in 2003 and 2004. Liles, the 2002 Junior Golf Association of Arizona Player of the Year, finished second at the 2004 Arizona Junior Girls State Championship.
The Gophers host the Minnesota Invitational at the U of M Les Bolstad Golf Course on Sept. 17-18.
