WTF: Troup to Run Steeplechase at World Championships

reFormer Gopher track star and current team nutritionist, Rasa Troup is set to compete at 2005 IAAF World Track and Field Championships is Helsinki, Finland. Troup, formerly Rasa Michniovaite, will represent her native country of Lithuania by running the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Event prelims are set for Saturday afternoon with the steeplechase final to be contested on Monday.

A native of Pabrade, Lithuania, Troup holds the the 3,000-meter steeplechase national record and has aspirations of qualifying for the 2008 Lithuanian Olympic team. At Minnesota, she was a two-time letterwinner in both track and cross country and earned All-America honors in cross country in 1998. She was also the first Golden Gopher to win the Roy Griak Invitational and the program’s first NCAA regional champion.
