The Western Collegiate Hockey Association has announced its All-Star Team that will play two games against the U.S. National Team Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., and the DECC in Duluth, Minn. The Golden Gopher women’s hockey team will have three representatives in senior defensemen Ashley Albrecht and Chelsey Brodt and sophomore forward Bobbi Ross.

Albrecht enters her final season with six goals and 36 assists for 42 career points. In her junior campaign, Albrecht netted a season-high four goals, including one in the NCAA Championship game against Harvard. Of her three or four goals on the season, one was a power-play goal and two were game-winning goals. Albrecht finished the season with a plus/minus rating of +36 and holds a +81 in her career.

Brodt enters her senior season with seven goals and 25 assists for 32 points. Brodt finished her junior campaign with season-highs in goals (4), assists (13), points (17) and plus/minus rating (+32). Brodt, a 2005-06 alternate captain, scored a power-play goal and two unassisted goals to help the Gophers win the WCHA regular season, WCHA Tournament Championship and the NCAA Championship. Brodt is also a two-time Academic All-WCHA and Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Ross is coming off a stellar freshman season, earning the WCHA Rookie of the Year award. Ross led the WCHA rookies in scoring with 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points. A member of the power-play, Ross helped last year’s unit with 10 power-play goals and 10 power-play assists for a 31.0 power-play conversion percentage. Along with her power- play performance, Ross also scored two game-winning and short-handed goals. Ross, an alternate team captain, also competed at the 2005 Canadian Under-22 Development camp.

The trio will face against some of their old teammates, including some from the national championship team a year ago. Playing on the U.S. National Team will be 2004-05 Gophers Natalie Darwitz, Kelly Stephens and Krissy Wendell and former Gophers Winny Brodt (Chelsey’s sister) and Courtney Kennedy.

The U.S. National team will continue an 11-game tour following its game in Duluth, finishing up with another visit to the Xcel Energy Center for a game against the Canadian national team at 7 p.m. Dec. 30.
