Albrecht, Brodt and Ross Seleced to WCHA All-Star Team

Albrecht enters her final season with six goals and 36 assists for 42 career points. In her junior campaign, Albrecht netted a season-high four goals, including one in the NCAA Championship game against Harvard. Of her three or four goals on the season, one was a power-play goal and two were game-winning goals. Albrecht finished the season with a plus/minus rating of +36 and holds a +81 in her career.
Brodt enters her senior season with seven goals and 25 assists for 32 points. Brodt finished her junior campaign with season-highs in goals (4), assists (13), points (17) and plus/minus rating (+32). Brodt, a 2005-06 alternate captain, scored a power-play goal and two unassisted goals to help the Gophers win the WCHA regular season, WCHA Tournament Championship and the NCAA Championship. Brodt is also a two-time Academic All-WCHA and Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Ross is coming off a stellar freshman season, earning the WCHA Rookie of the Year award. Ross led the WCHA rookies in scoring with 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points. A member of the power-play, Ross helped last year’s unit with 10 power-play goals and 10 power-play assists for a 31.0 power-play conversion percentage. Along with her power- play performance, Ross also scored two game-winning and short-handed goals. Ross, an alternate team captain, also competed at the 2005 Canadian Under-22 Development camp.
The trio will face against some of their old teammates, including some from the national championship team a year ago. Playing on the U.S. National Team will be 2004-05 Gophers Natalie Darwitz, Kelly Stephens and Krissy Wendell and former Gophers Winny Brodt (Chelsey’s sister) and Courtney Kennedy.
The U.S. National team will continue an 11-game tour following its game in Duluth, finishing up with another visit to the Xcel Energy Center for a game against the Canadian national team at 7 p.m. Dec. 30.
