The University of Minnesota men's hockey team recently held its annual IronMan competition with senior center Gino Guyer (Coleraine, Minn.) ending senior forward Andy Sertich's (Coleraine, Minn.) two-year reign of the Golden Gophers' preseason test of strength, speed, agility and endurance.

Guyer led the team with 187 overall points with junior center Ryan Potulny (178 points), junior forward Danny Irmen (177), Sertich (173) and sophomore forward Tom Pohl (154) rounding out the top five. Sertich had won the 2003 and 2004 IronMan competitions after current New Jersey Devil Paul Martin won the 2001 and 2002 events.

The Golden Gopher IronMan competition includes events such as bench press, pull-ups, 400-meter dash, 2-mile run, shuttle run and 10/20-yard dash.
