Chris Harrington Named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week

In Friday’s 5-2 win, Harrington recorded a career-high three assists and his second career three-point game. The blueliner assisted on UM’s first two goals, including Ryan Stoa’s shorthanded tally in the first period, and the team’s fourth goal in the second period. For the game, Harrington had four shots and was a +2. In Saturday’s 7-1 victory, he added two more assists for his highest scoring output weekend of the season. Harrington got the helpers on Alex Goligoski’s power-play goal in the second period and Ben Gordon’s even- strength marker, also in the second. For the game, he had three shots and was a +2. For the weekend, Harrington had seven shots and was +4. He now leads the team in assists with 18 and is fourth in points with 19 on the season.
This week’s award is the first for Harrington this season and for his career.
The Maroon and Gold returns to WCHA play this weekend with pivotal series against No. 10/10 North Dakota (14-9-1, 7-7-0 WCHA) on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 13-14, at Mariucci Arena. Both games face off at 7:07 p.m., and will be televised on FSN North.
