Gophers Lead After One Round of DeBary Intercollegiate

The University of Minnesota women's golf team had five players place among the top 10 scorers and leads the DeBary Intercollegiate by three shots over Florida Atlantic after the opening round of the 14-team field. The final round of the 14-team, 36-hole event which is being played at the par 72, 6,078-yard DeBary Country Club course is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m. Monday.

Minnesota carded a team score of 298 followed by FAU at 301 and Mercer in third place with a 302. Host Winthrop stands in fourth place at 306.

The Gophers' top scorers in the first round were sophomore Sydney Liles and freshman Christine Herzog who carded 2-over 74s. Freshman Leslie Grabeman and sophomore Young Na Lee were another shot back at 75. Junior Kelli Berns carded an 82 and sophomore Anne Martin, playing as an individual, shot a 75.
