PARKING IN TEMPE
FAQ’s for parking in Tempe on New Year’s Eve
If folks come into town at 9 am on Dec. 31st for the MBB Game Watch Party will they be allowed to park in a lot that is inside the block party enclosure?
The parking map shows parking lots/garages – all of these that are shown actually have an entrance/exit that fall outside the boundaries of the party. Therefore, if anyone chooses to park in any one of these locations indicated on the map, they will NOT be parked inside the boundaries of the party. It may look deceiving as the map shows the party entrances/exits very close to the parking areas, but the event planners make sure not to disturb the ability for people to park in these large lots and not be able to get out. Parking on the streets in the Mill Avenue District is NOT a good idea that morning. There are usually NO PARKING signs on all the meters prior to the street closing. We recommend the lots indicated on the map and not street parking.
How much is the Metro from the Park & Ride to downtown?
The Metro light rail will actually be FREE for all riders through 3 am on January 1, 2009. Therefore, anyone in the area from Dec 27 – Jan 1 (3 am) can use the system for free. Starting at around 6 am on Jan 1, official fee service will begin. The charge is $1.25 per ride or $2.50 for an all day pass. See the light rail Ride Guide for more details: http://www.valleymetro.org/images/uploads/lightrail_publications/METRO-Ride-Guide-web.pdf
