Gopher Wrestlers Compete at Husky Open

Five members of the University of Minnesota wrestling team competed unattached on Saturday at the Husky Open at St. Cloud State University’s Halenbeck Hall. True freshman Scott Glasser won five of six matches on the day to, including one major decision, on his way to a third-place finish at 165 pounds.

Also competing at 165 for the Gophers were redshirt freshman Nate Matousek and junior Matt Everson. Matousek posted a 3-2 record with one pin, while Everson went 1-2.

Junior Justin Bronson and true freshman Brent Eidenschink also competed unattached at 197 pounds. Bronson won three of five matches on the day, including a pin in the second round. Eidenschink earned two victories, both by fall.

With finals next week and the holiday break to follow, the Golden Gopher wrestling team will next be in action Dec. 29-30 at the Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C.
