STUDENT MANAGERS
Student managers are any student used by the Athletic Department for facilitating staff and team activities.
There are certain limitations involved with student managers. These are:

STUDENT MANAGERS
Student managers are any student used by the Athletic Department for facilitating staff and team activities.
There are certain limitations involved with student managers. These are:
- Participation in practice activities (e.g. taking the place of a student-athlete) can be on an occasional basis only if there is shortage of student-athletes on that particular day.
- May be provided a meal in conjunction with team activities.
- May not give campus tours in conjunction with official or unofficial visits.
- May not serve in a coaching capacity in any fashion.
- May perform limited on-field activities (e.g. passing drills, throw batting practice) provided they are also performing traditional managerial functions (e.g. run clock, laundry, fill water bottles).
A current student-manager may move to become a practice player in the following semester. This individual would have to complete all the practice player documentation prior to practicing with the team. Once he is certified as a practice player he may not be paid or travel with the team for away competitions.
MALE PRACTICE PLAYERS
There are certain limitations involved with male practice players. These are:
- Must have eligibility remaining under their five-year clock (14.2.1) and be enrolled as a full-time student.
- Freshman must be certified by the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.
- Cannot receive financial aid in exchange for participation in practices with a women’s team – this includes room and board during vacation periods so the practice player can remain on campus to participate in team practices.
- Cannot be employed at summer camps.
- Cannot be a counter in any men’s sport.
- A current student-athlete serving their year-in-residence cannot serve as a practice player.
- May receive practice apparel from the institution for practice activities.
- May receive one complimentary admission to contests in the sport in which they practice.
