Gophers Complete Second Day of NCAAs

Yuen Kobayashi finished 15th in the 200-yard freestyle event, tonight at the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. After two days of the championships, Minnesota holds the 18th spot in the nation with 37 points.

Kobayashi clocked a time 1:48.45 and placed 15th overall. Also competing in the event was Meredith McCarthy, Kate Hardt, Christine Jennings and Erin Holtmeyer. McCarthy chipped in a time of 1:48.89 for 29th overall, while Hardt was right behind her teammate in 30th at 1:48.92. Jennings touched the wall in 1:49.24 for a 36th-place, while Holtmeyer placed 58th in a time of 1: 51.44, respectively.

Jenny Shaughness competed in the 400-yard individual medley, placing 17th overall. Shaughnessy touched the wall in 4:18.04, just missing the B Final. Katie Wind competed in her first NCAA event in the 100 back today. Wind chipped in a time of 55.94 and a 40- place finish. The Gophers finished ninth in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:13.64 with Shaughnessy, Kobayashi, Hardt and Jennings competing in the relay.

The Maroon and Gold conclude action tomorrow. Prelims begin at 11 a.m. (ET), while finals are at 7 p.m.
