Ten Gophers Set to Compete at 2026 Women’s NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – University of Minnesota swimmers Katie McCarthy, Rachel Conley, Ava Yablonski, Ava Goodno, Morgan Thomas, Livi Wanner, and divers Elna Widerstrom, Vivi Del Angel, Addie Albrecht, and Annalei Dow are set to represent the maroon and gold at the 2026 DI Women's Swimming & Diving Championships in Atlanta, Georgia from Mar. 18-21.

Championships At a Glance

 

Georgia Tech serves as the host school of this year's NCAA Championships, holding the meet at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The Gophers will have members competing on all four days of the meet, with prelims starting at 9:00 AM (CT) and finals beginning at 5:00 PM (CT) each day. 

 

Katie McCarthy is set to make her third appearance at the NCAA championships, qualifying for the 1650 free, 400 IM, 500 free. McCarthy tallied a new personal best in the 1650 free at the most recent Big Ten Championships, placing fifth overall in the event with a 16:05.46. McCarthy also took eighth place in the 400 IM with a personal best of 4:06.49, and 17th overall in the 500 free with a time of 4:42.32.

 

Rachel Conley will make her first appearance at the NCAA Championships this year, qualifying to compete in the 200 fly. Conley set a new personal best in the event at this year's Last Chance Meet in Wisconsin, tallying a 1:55.41.

 

Ava Yablonski, Ava Goodno, Morgan Thomas, and Livi Wanner will all represent Minnesota as part of the 200 medley relay team. This will be Yablonski's second appearance at the NCAA championships while the rest of the relay team will make their NCAA championship debut. The group punched their ticket to the championship after posting a 1:36.01 in the event at this year's Last Chance Meet in Wisconsin. 

 

Elna Widerstrom is set to make her third straight NCAA Championship appearance, qualifying for both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events. Widerstrom won both events at the Zone D Diving Championships, following up on her first career conference title in the 1-meter at the most recent Big Ten Championships.

 

Vivi Del Angel is set to make her fourth national championship appearance, qualifying for all three diving events. The 2024 platform national champion qualified with top five finishes in both springboard events and a second place finish in the 10-meter platform event at the Zone D Diving Championships, also following up on her first career conference title on the platform at the most recent Big Ten Championships.

 

Addie Albrecht will make her third NCAA championship appearance, qualifying for the 1-meter springboard with a tenth place finish at the Zone D Diving Championships. Albrecht competed in the 1-meter event in her sophomore and junior season, placing 38th and 29th respectively.

 

Annalei Dow will make her first career national championship appearance this season, qualifying for the 10-meter platform with a 11th place finish at the Zone D Diving Championships.
