Widerstrom Captures Podium Finish on Day Three of 2026 NCAA Championships

ATLANTA, GA. – The University of Minnesota women's swimming and diving program closed out day three of competition at the 2026 DI Women's Swimming and Diving Championships today, tallying a podium finish and two more All American nods throughout today's six events.
Elna Widerstrom closed out her championships with a third place finish in the 3-meter springboard "A" finals tonight. After finishing sixth in this morning's preliminary session, Widerstrom tallied a personal best score of 374.35 for the podium finish and her second set of All-American honors of these championships.
Vivi Del Angel was named an All-American Honorable Mention for her efforts in the 3-meter springboard event, tallying a score of 307.20 in the preliminary round to finish 15th overall in the event.
Katie McCarthy closed out her championships with a 23rd place finish in the 500 free, tallying a total time of 4:40.82 in the event.
The Gophers will close out the 2026 DI Women's Swimming and Diving Championships with the final day of competition tomorrow in Atlanta. All the action from the McAuley Aquatic Center is set to kick off at 9:00 AM (CT).
