Minnesota Hosts St. Thomas at Midway Stadium on Apr. 18

Minnesota will have six games on the slate this week. The Golden Gophers will start with a game at Midway Stadium against St. Thomas on Tuesday, Apr. 18 at 7 p.m. Minnesota will then host Northern Iowa on Wednesday, Apr. 19 at 3 p.m. in its only game at Siebert Field this year. The Golden Gophers will follow that up by hitting the road for their second straight Big Ten series when they face Michigan State for the first time since the 2003 season. Minnesota fill face the Spartans on Friday, Apr. 21 at 2 p.m., in a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 22 at 12 p.m. and in the series finale on Sunday, Apr. 23 at 12 p.m. The Golden Gophers and Spartans enter the week tied for fourth place in the Big Ten with 6-6 record. Both teams are three games out of first place heading into the week.

Minnesota will face St. Thomas at Midway Stadium on Tuesday, Apr. 18. It will be the first time the Golden Gophers have played at Midway Stadium since the mid- 1980s. Minnesota hosted NCAA Regionals at Midway Stadium in 1960 and 1969. The Golden Gophers defeated Notre Dame 15-6 and Detroit twice by scores of 12-5 and 5-4 in 1960 at Midway Stadium in the NCAA Regionals en route to their second College World Series title. In 1969, Minnesota defeated Ohio University 11-8 before falling to Southern Illinois 4-3 and Ball State 4-1 to end its NCAA Tournament run. Minnesota leads the all-time series against St. Thomas 61-10. Last year, the Golden Gophers defeated the Tommies 9-1 at the Metrodome. St. Thomas enters the game with a 20-6 overall record and leads the MIAC with an 8-2 conference record.
