Hunt Walks it Off in Extras, Gophers Rally to Take Down SDSU 3-2

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The University of Minnesota baseball team continued their stretch through the 2026 Cambria College Classic tonight against South Dakota State University, walking it off in extra innings to take down the Jackrabbits 3-2 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Adam Urban got the win out of the bullpen for Minnesota, pitching three shutout innings and striking out four. Isaac Morton started the ballgame, tallying six innings and striking out seven.
In the batter's box, the Gophers were led by Davis Hamilton who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double, a walk and an RBI. Jameson Martin compiled a standout performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gophers got on the scoreboard first in the second inning, tallying the first run of the game on an RBI double off the bat of Davis Hamilton.
The Jackrabbits then rallied to score two runs and take a 2-1 lead before the Gophers got back on the board in the seventh. Ty Allen came across to score on a balk by SDSU, making the score level at 2-2.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the tenth, when Minnesota walked it off on a sacrifice bunt from Sam Hunt to score Jack Spanier from third.
