Jake Lee Named Most Valuable Gymnast at Awards Picnic

Junior Jake Lee was named the Minnesota men’s gymnastics Most Valuable Gymnast at the annual awards picnic held on Saturday, April 28. “Jake was voted Most Valuable Gymnast by his teammates,” head coach Mike Burns said. “Jake had a great season, winning the all- around in all five of our dual meets this season. His leadership on the competition floor was invaluable.”

Other award winners included senior Justin Meyer, who was named the Most Improved Competitor, Sergei Dmitriev, who was named the Most Tenacious Gymnast, and freshman Kit Beikmann, who was named the Most Conscientious. The Outstanding Championship Competitor award went to sophomore Mitchell Mays, while the Spirit of Gopher Gymnastics award went to freshman Adam Reichow.

Academic Excellence Awards were presented to nine gymnasts; Kyle True, Matt Altomari, Edward Campbell, Justin Meyer, Joe Moore, Alex Quast, Adam Reichow, Gus Roethlisberger, and Mark Witmer.
