Aaron Buzard Named Midwest District Track Athlete of the Year

Minnesota junior sprinter Aaron Buzard was named the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association 2006 Midwest District Track Athlete of the Year. The recipients of the awards were nominated and voted upon by NCAA Division I coaches.
Buzard, a Rochester, Minn., native, will compete in the NCAA Championships next week in the 400-meter dash. Buzard captured the Midwest Region title in the event last weekend and heads in the national meet with the fourth-fastest time in the nation this season (45.51 seconds). He will run the anchor leg of the Gophers’ 4x400-meter relay at the national meet.
