The University of Minnesota Sports Marketing Department received four awards, including a Best of Show distinction, recently at the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) 15th Annual Convention held in New Orleans.
The marketing department received the top honor in the Promotional T-shirt Design category for last year’s “Let Your Gopher Spirit Out” design which was the slogan for the Golden Gopher football student season ticket campaign. The design also earned a Best of Show award, given to the top five winners overall regardless of category or group.
The marketing department also received silver plaques in two other categories. For their unique advertisement used to promote the Gopher wrestling meet against border rival Iowa State, the department was awarded second place in The Single Newspaper Display Ad category. The marketing efforts surrounding Linda Roberts Day and the ceremony to retire her jersey also earned a silver plaque in the Single Day Attendance Promotion for Women’s Basketball category.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 16 different categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations. The Gopher Sports Marketing Department competed in the top group.
